What changed in the Enshrouded 1.0 full release?

Enshrouded left Early Access on October 15, 2026, with version 1.0 on PC and the first PS5 release. The update raises the player level cap to 50, lets gear reach level 55 and opens the new Cinder's Cradle biome. It also adds nine spell types, 37 new enemies and the Sparkworks logic system. Returning characters have their skill trees reset, so plan a short stop at the base before your first fight.

The 1.0 launch at a glance

Keen Games released the full version on Thursday, October 15, 2026. It ended Early Access on Steam and brought the game to PS5 at the same time. Xbox Series X|S is not part of this launch and remains planned for spring 2027.

Steam lists the game at $39.99, with a 10% launch discount until October 29. PC players who bought during Early Access receive 1.0 as a free update. Launch-day reports counted more than 64,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, before PS5 players are added.

Our release date page covers the unlock time and platform schedule in more detail. If you are deciding where to buy, compare the PS5 guide with the PC version first. The rest of this page groups the official changes by what they mean for your next session.

Progression: level 50, gear 55 and a skill reset

The character level cap rises to 50, and fully upgraded equipment now reaches level 55. These are separate ceilings, so a level 55 item does not mean your character can pass level 50. The level cap guide explains how player level, gear level and skill points differ.

The opening progression also changed. Your first level-up now arrives when you place the first Flame Altar, and the second when you free the Blacksmith on the quest line. New players therefore feel progress earlier than in the Early Access opening.

Several new skills join the tree, including Aerial Wand Attack, Wand Evasion Attack, Advanced Necromancy, Totem Mastery, Blast and Cast, Puncture, Barrage and Survival Instinct. Dagger skills moved to the assassin side, and some nodes were repositioned or re-costed. A new Airborne Architect skill near the centre of the tree enables free-flying building.

Characters from Early Access have their skill tree reset when they first load into 1.0. The points are returned for you to spend again rather than lost. Open the skill tree guide and rebuild your allocation before leaving a safe base.

World: Cinder's Cradle and the rest of Embervale

The full world map is now accessible, including floating islands, more Shroud Roots and more Hollow Halls. The headline addition is Cinder's Cradle, a new biome sized between Blackmire and Veilwater Basin. It holds 12 Shroud Roots and a new enemy faction.

Extra playable areas near the world edge in Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes add six further Shroud Roots. Hollow Halls gates are now open in Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin. Three new save points were placed in the Nomad Highlands Shroud, which helps on the route to the Nomad Highlands Hollow Halls.

The main story of Embervale reaches a conclusion for now, according to the changelog. Quests are split into main and side quests, and each quest shows whether it is personal or shared with the world. A quest is labelled difficult when its target area is two or more levels above your character.

Because the map grew, older marker counts and route videos may be incomplete. Use the map guide to choose a map tool that covers the 1.0 world. For Albaneve objectives, the Shroud Roots checklist still separates roots from Elixir Wells.

Combat: nine spell types and 37 new enemies

Version 1.0 adds nine new spell types spread across tiers, plus new tiers for existing spells. Every spell now has an eternal version, and eternal ember and voltaic arrows were added. Spell charge recipes were redesigned, so check the crafting menu before relying on an old recipe.

Necromancy players should note the new limits. The Gem of Lesser Necromancy caps how many companions it can raise, and summoned companions lose health over time outside combat. When you exceed the summon cap, the oldest creature is replaced.

The update adds 37 new enemies, 14 of them from the new faction in Cinder's Cradle. Enemies now recover health over time after players leave combat. The Albaneve Summits boss gained an exhausted phase, a reworked stun meter and a weak point that works for all weapons.

Those changes mean old weapon tier lists need a fresh look. Our best weapons page and builds guide explain how to compare options by role. Wisp of Light also lasts 10 minutes instead of five, which makes dark dungeon runs less fiddly.

Building: open zones, more altars and Sparkworks

Most areas that used to block building are now open for player bases. The maximum number of Flame Altars is 16, reached at Flame level 11. Flame Altars can also push the Shroud back, either at Flame level 11 or earlier through a world setting.

Sparkworks is the new logic system for puzzles, traps, dungeons and arenas. It uses interactive objects and a 2D graph editor to connect inputs and outputs. You unlock it by crafting a new set of tools and props, as described in the Sparkworks guide.

A per-world factory limit was added, and the game warns you as you approach it. Ectoplasm Block is now a tier 2 building material, and cattails and reeds can be planted in shallow water. If you are choosing a new home, the best base locations guide helps you weigh the newly opened areas.

Saves, languages and dedicated servers

Version 1.0 uses a new save format with smaller files and a simpler folder structure. When the game first loads a save from version 0.8 or earlier, it backs up the old save and migrates it automatically. Character and world selection now have separate tabs for local saves and Steam cloud saves.

Text language and voice-over language can now be selected separately. Lore notes and important survivors are voiced in English, German and Chinese, with more languages planned later. The language support page lists every language on the Steam store.

Dedicated servers keep their user groups and passwords, but you cannot promote or demote players during play. A new Automatic option scales enemy spawn amounts with party size, and the enemy damage slider was reworked. See the server guide before you update a hosted world.

What to do first after updating

The order below keeps returning players from losing progress or entering a fight with no skills. New players can skip the backup step and start with the 1.0 beginner guide. Groups should update every client and the server before anyone joins.

  1. Copy your save folder before the first launch, even though 1.0 makes its own backup.
  2. Load the world and confirm the expected character and base appear.
  3. Spend your refunded skill points at a safe base.
  4. Check your crafting menus, because spell charge recipes changed.
  5. Review newly opened building zones before moving your base.
  6. Plan the trip to Cinder's Cradle only after your gear is upgraded.
