Coal is not Charcoal
Coal and Charcoal are distinct materials in Enshrouded. Read the requested item name before deciding whether you need a mining trip. If the recipe asks for Charcoal, use its crafting chain rather than searching Coal veins.
This distinction prevents an unnecessary journey into the mountains for the wrong ingredient. The Coal route in the research points to Albaneve Summits rather than a universal starter-area source. Check the actual recipe and the material name before making that trip.
Find the Rothstep area
The researched Coal landmark is Rothstep Mining Settlement, northwest of the Albaneve Summits Ancient Spire. A separate guide places a Coal mine just west of Rothstep. These descriptions agree on the settlement and northwest approach without requiring invented coordinates.
Use a current map to find the settlement and mine area. Bring a repaired pickaxe and verify the deposit once you reach it. The map guide explains why coordinates from different services should not be transferred without knowing their conventions.
- Read the recipe to distinguish Coal from Charcoal.
- For mined Coal, explore Albaneve Summits with a repaired pickaxe.
- Travel northwest from the Albaneve Summits Ancient Spire toward Rothstep and check the mine area.
- Plan safe access for mountain hazards.
- If the recipe asks for Charcoal, use its crafting chain instead of searching Coal veins.
Prepare for mountain access
Plan access around mountain hazards instead of treating the mine as a nearby starter gathering spot. A repaired tool is useful only after you have reached the deposit safely. Consider the regional travel point and your return route before committing to the expedition.
The official mountain update supplies context for Albaneve exploration. It does not independently establish the Coal vein’s exact position or yield. If you are also completing regional objectives, keep the Albaneve Shroud Roots checklist separate from this resource task.
Gather for the current recipe
Check the current recipe before deciding how much Coal to gather. The community references disagree on some stack and recipe values, so no quantity is retained here. Named landmarks are supported more clearly than a universal material total.
The text diagram describes the northwest approach and material distinction. It does not show a scaled route or promise that an exact deposit will remain after the full release. For your workshop plan, connect the gathering task to the base design guide.
