What is Enshrouded's current level cap, and does 1.0 raise it?

The researched Early Access player level cap is 45. Keen announces a player cap of 50 and an equipment cap of 55 for Enshrouded 1.0. Character level, gear level, Flame level and total skill points are separate measurements, so check which limit your question concerns.

The researched live character cap

The Early Access player level cap is 45 in the October 13, 2026 research. Wake of the Water introduced that cap. Older references to 25 or 35 describe earlier versions rather than the current researched limit.

Identify the installed version before using a maximum-level answer. A live Early Access character and an announced full-release change are different contexts. The release-date guide helps separate those milestones.

Announced full-release caps

Keen’s combat preview announces a player cap of 50 and an equipment cap of 55 for the full release. On the research date, these are upcoming values rather than live Early Access limits. Keep both values tied to the developer’s announced version.

A gear cap above the character cap is not a contradiction. They measure different parts of progression. Do not replace the character-level answer with a number found on an equipment item.

  1. Check whether the player's build is Early Access or the future 1.0 release.
  2. Use 45 for current player level and 50 for the announced 1.0 cap.
  3. Explain that gear can have a different maximum level.
  4. Use Shroud Root and Elixir Well completion when discussing skill points, not merely XP.
  5. Recheck total skill points after the 1.0 skill changes.

Skill points are not just character levels

Character level, gear level, Flame level and total skill points are distinct measurements. Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells matter when discussing exploration-earned skill rewards. A maximum character level therefore cannot be used alone to calculate a final point total.

The old 184-point Early Access total is not carried into the full release here. The researched combat changes include a skill reset, and the final total requires a version-current check. The skill-tree guide explains connected paths and the different reward sources.

Use caps when evaluating a build

Check the version attached to a build before trying to reproduce its allocation. A guide written for an older cap may assume a different equipment ceiling or skill arrangement. The build guide treats those examples as versioned templates rather than permanent rankings.

The weapon guide also separates announced equipment changes from tested full-release comparisons. A higher planned gear ceiling does not prove a particular weapon’s final damage. Use the cap distinction to interpret the example, then inspect the current item and skill tooltips.
